Cathy Grant Gerrior has worked with the New Leaf Program for 17 years. New Leaf provides an opportunity for men to take responsibility for their abusive behaviour and to effect social change so that the underlying power imbalances no longer exist. Cathy has been a member of the Peace and Friendship project for over 12 years. This project works to create bridges between Indigenous and non-native communities through education, cross cultural experiences and ceremony. Cathy is also the daughter of a residential school survivor. Her mother, from Spotted Island, Labrador, was taken to a residential school at the age of 3 when her father died in a storm. Cathy speaks clearly about the impact and continual harm caused by racism and exclusion. cathy@emerge-international.com
